The End of an Era and the beginning of another!

When I wanted to get a digital camera (and had enough money to buy one), I reviewed, compared, and pretty much did a research on the subject. After months of deliberation, my heart was set on Olympus C770 - most attractive feature being the 10x zoom. not so commonplace in 2005.

When I got this camera in Sep'05, I never thought I'd be smitten by the shutterbug. I wanted a camera to call my own and take wherever I went - without having to depend on the family camera. Soon, I realsed (rather. was mde to realise) that I did indeed have an eye for the little things.

On March 1, 2008 - it was another big step ahead. I got my first dSLR - a Nikon D80! Am still a novice in the world of dSLRs and I hope, someday, I will leave a mark here too! Note: All pictures coming after this post are from my dSLR!

Gokarna

After the trip to Pichavaram, I haven't really travelled long and far. With the 3-day Sankranthi holidays approaching, I really wanted to get away to some nice place. We chose Gokarna (thanks to many who'd written about the place - such as this blog and this travelogue) - it was a 3-day weekend and 3 of us set off on Gokarna.
Not an easy journey for any of us - an overnight journey from Hyderabad to Hubli, and then a 4.5 hour bus ride to Gokarna. By the time we reached Gokarna, it was 2 pm. We had lunch, refreshed, and got off to the Om beach. We'd be there till sunset.
The next day, it was Kudle beach - a typical Chennaiite, I haven't come across clean, vast beaches with so much of variety and sea life. Needless to say, I had a nice time taking pictures of the little things on the beach... we even found whale bones...
Day 3, we went to the main beach - the typical Indian beach - dirty, noisy, crowds. At 12 noon, it was time to get going. After lunch, we got back to the bus stand, got into a bus to Ankola - one that went on even after a tire burst - from Ankola, it was to Hubli, and Hubli to Hyderabad.

Bhongir Fort

I went to Bhongir Fort a couple of weeks ago. From what I had read online, it seemed to be a good choice for a quick weekend trip. I was a li' disappointed by what I saw - nowhere close to the fort I had imagined :P Looking back, I think it is a good place for a quiet weekend trip - as long as that's all you want! And a good climb thrown in too... As usual, the pictures are on Picasaweb and my post on the trip is at my travelogue

Pichavaram

Pichavaram - not many people know this place, a mangrove near Chidambaram. We went there, my and two other friends, last weekend. You can find my pics on Picasa and Flickr too :)

Hampi too....

Finally! ..Yes, finally, I've managed to upload all the pics I had taken over the past few weeks. Hampi was our first stop - before Jog Falls and Hogenakkal... and here are my pictures on Picasa...

Better late than Never...

Well... that is exactly what I tell myself for posting pictures almost a month after the trip ... hmmm...

So, I'd been to Hampi (Wikipedia), Jog Falls (Wikipedia) and Hogenakkal ...

I am yet to post my Hampi pictures... but you can find the Jog Fall pictures and Hogenakkal Pictures in my Picasaweb album

Latest Updates

After a long break, I went to Qutub Shahi Tombs. It is promoted as a historical site -- however, I didn't find it very impressive (Well, I am no historian!) I have uploaded the pics in my Picasaweb account

It's all about my passion - photography

There are a few things I am passionate about – and as you would find here in this site, photography is one among them; travel is another. The pictures you find here are my own – not a collection from the web. Of late, I have traveled a bit and taken a lot of pictures. Here are some of my pictures – not my entire collection. This blog came into being for my friends. Initially, I found it quite easy to upload pictures here and send the link rather than attaching the pictures each time I want someone to see my pictures. But as the days go by, I realize the audience is getting larger and hence the attempt to categorize it rather than simply load in chronological order.

And ya, be prepared to see this place change its look and feel once in a while. For comments or suggestions, you can always write to chris.vgi@gmail.com
